Holistic Doula Trainings
Birth Arts Doula Trainings are open to anyone interested in learning to support women through pregnancy, birth, and immediate postpartum. This workshop is perfect for aspiring doulas, aspiring midwives, nurses, childbirth educators, college students, parents, and more.
The Birth Arts Doula Training balances evidence-based research on best maternity care practices with intuition, women's wisdom and traditional midwifery. We empower women to become doulas through our intensive course, which include a residential weekend workshop, ongoing mentoring, distance course work, and a Birth Arts Doula certification option.
Learn to support women giving birth at home, hospitals, and birth centers. Learn techniques to comfort women in labor, including massage, rebozo, touch, position, relaxation, and movement. Connect with others who are passionate about advocating for mothers, babies, and families!
There are no hidden fees for certification through Birth Arts. At the workshop you will receive a workbook with over 350 pages of information and study aids, and completion of the workshop entitles you to a certificate for participation in the Birth Arts Doula Training Workshop. You can then complete the distance work for further certification as a Birth Arts Doula.
Throughout the Birth Arts workbook there are activities that you complete after the workshop at your own pace. You will work with a doula mentor, who will be one of your teachers at the workshop, through email, mail, and phone communication as you complete the program. When you have completed the coursework in the manual, have attended five births, and read 10 books from the reading list, you can apply for certification as a Birth Arts Doula. You have up to three years to complete the distance work.

Our educational approach is unique in the doula world and we want to share this with you. When receiving an education from Birth Arts expect to be challenged heart, mind and spirit. We work with students exploring issues that affect birth, affect, education and practice style and hope to train doulas who are comfortable with their role in the doula world.
What does the workshop include?
Complete doula training. We will cover pregnancy support, labor support techniques, holistic health, anatomy, psychological care in birth and so much more. You will learn what it takes to support all kinds of women. You will also get a chance to explore your beliefs about birth and doula work.
Support techniques, like massage, aromatherapy, flower essences, rebozo, visualization and more are taught to students. Students will also learn about breastfeeding, mother care and birth in various birth settings.
The workshops provide in-person training, while distance learning and mentoring provide on-going support through the certification process and as you grow as a doula.
