Things to have on hand at home for your labor and birth:

  • Sink adapter and RV hose (drinking water safe hose) can be picked up at Jerry’s or Fred Meyer.
  • Two fitted sheets for your bed.
  • Two plastic garbage bags and two paper grocery bags
  • Food for labor, after the birth, and for your partner and midwives. Some suggestions of easy-to-digest food include: bananas, yogurt, toast, peanut butter, miso soup, honey sticks, etc. Choose foods that you already like to eat.
  • Coffee and cream for the midwives.
  • Something for baby to wear after the newborn exam if you want him/her dressed: Usually, a receiving blankie, onesie, or sleeper, baby cap, and diapers.
  • Recharge (electrolyte balancing drink), which can be found in Fred Meyer’s, Market of Choice or at health food stores.

A couple weeks before you due date I will bring you:

  • The Spa in a Box waterbirth tub with new filters.
  • A tarp
  • A large container filled with wash clothes, hand towels, bath towels and baby blankets (washed and bleached before they enter your home).
